Wow. THANK YOU to the 430+ of you who attended or exhibited at the Music Library Association's 82nd Annual Meeting! The weather was wonderful, the sessions were stimulating, and the food was fabulous. Most of all, YOU made it a terrific meeting. Thank you for attending!

The Californians of MLA welcome you to San Jose, northern California’s largest city located just south of San
Francisco Bay. Boasting the best climate in the Bay Area, we can (almost
certainly) guarantee no snow, and with any luck we’ll enjoy several of the
famous 300 days of sunshine. San Jose is also California’s oldest city, and
you’ll still find traces of its past scattered throughout the region—though
nowadays it’s high-tech rather than history that defines the city, the home of
more than 6,000 technology companies.
The Fairmont Hotel is the perfect base for exploring
downtown San Jose on foot. Your conference bag will include a map of more than
100 restaurants with a variety of California cuisine and ethnic fare, all
within walking distance. Within steps of the hotel are the San Jose Museum of
Art and the Tech Museum of Innovation. Walk a couple of blocks further and you
will discover the SoFa district of art galleries, the San Jose Repertory Theater,
and the beautiful California Theater, restored as a venue for the opera and
symphony by David Packard. The downtown neighborhoods encompass the historic
district, San Pedro Square (plenty of restaurants and live music), and
Japantown.
As we get closer to the conference date, the Local
Arrangements Committee will be adding more information to the website pages on
happenings in the city, including the Cinequest Film Festival, the activities
of Clara, our resident peregrine falcon – and music too!
Before you register, be sure to check out the exciting tours
planned for Wednesday, February 27 and sign up if you can. Also, please save
your Friday evening, March 1, for a special reception and exhibition at the
King Library, just three blocks from the Fairmont.
See you in San Jose!
